Aquademy Swimming
Course Overview
We run a range of courses for swimmers catering for all ages and abilities. Where they start and how they progress depends on an initial assessment which provides sound basis for the development of their confidence and skill in the water. More information on the beginner courses is available below
Adult and Child 
A swimming course for children age from 18 months to 3.5 years accompanied by an adult. The emphasis is on gaining water confidence whilst working with the adult. Fun and enjoyment are the priority. This stage takes children from initial introduction to water right through to achieving independance. Some children may progress from this stage to beginner level
8 Children per class
Non-Swimmer 1 and Non-Swimmer 2
Encouraging fun, safety and helping swimmers feel comfortable in water. Children with water experience or confidence may move through this level quickly.
Activities
- Floating on front and back
- Entering the water independently
- Introduction to flutter kicking on front and back
- Safety awareness
- Basic movement skills
- Using arms and legs for simple form of travelling through water
- Submerging
These courses are ideal for children 3.5 years and older.
6 children per class
Beginners
Children who can travel 10+ metres on front and back comfortably independantly in deep water showing an over arm action and are learning all kicking techniques.
Activities
- Safe entries
- Jumping in
- Floating
- Travel and rotation
- Regaining upright position
These courses are ideal for children of all ages
6 Children per class
Improvers

This course is ideal for children who can travel 20+ metres Frontcrawl and Backcrawl comfortably and are still learning the timing required for Butterfly and Breaststroke.
Activities
- Developing safe entries
- Developing an understanding of bouyancy
- Refining kicking technique
- Submersion
- Rotation skills
- Water safety knowledge
Suitable for children of all ages
6 Children per class
Advanced
This course focuses on stroke improvement on all strokes as well as building confidence and endurance on Frontcrawl and Backstroke.
Activities
- Develop 'watermanship'
- Sculling
- Treading water skills
- Complete rotation
- Co-ordinated breathing
- Water safety aspects
- Understanding preparation for exercise
- Performing all strokes to a ASA given standard
Suitable for all children at the appropriate skill level

Private lessons or small class ratio's
Stroke Specific Classes
Diving Classes
1:2:1's - 2:2:1's - 3:2:1's
These courses offer lessons to children or adults looking to focus individually or in small groups. Lessons will be taught to any level of ability from ages 3.5 years and over.
Stroke Specific Classes
On occasion some swimmers may want additional tuition with specific skills or strokes and these classes may be booked on an ad hoc basis.
Diving Classes
Many swimmers require longer learning periods for Diving than can be covered within a typical weekly lesson. These lessons can be booked on a Full or Half termly basis and can give that something extra to build a swimers confidence.
